Originally unveiled in 2006, Golf Master Time was the ROMAIN JEROME flagship collection, resolutely golf-themed in both technical and aesthetic respects. It houses the exclusive worldwide-patented counter that sparked the birth of the brand and inaugurates the identifying characteristics inspired by typical players’ equipment.
Offering eloquent proof that mechanical watchmaking represents a field of exploration that is still open to ingenious minds, the module developed by ROMAIN JEROME features an original function. Designed for golf enthusiasts, players or spectators, it records the performances achieved throughout a complete round.
Pressing the push-piece at 10 o’clock shows the hole number on a left-hand analog counter. This automatically resets the right-hand analog counter to zero. By pressing the push-piece at 2 o’clock, one can then display, one by one, the number of strokes played per hole.
The total since the start of the round appears in the applied double aperture at 6 o’clock when you programme the following hole. At the end of the round, the count is cancelled by turning the winding-crown. The additional plate of the ROMAIN JEROME golf counter, composed of forty-nine parts, is coupled with a chronometer-certified self-winding ETA 2892A2 movement.
The overall effect is enhanced by meticulously executed high-end finishing (bevelling, polishing, circular graining and Côtes de Genève). The screws are in blued steel. The exclusive oscillating weight is machined in 22-carat solid gold and equipped with a ceramic ball-bearing mechanism.
The golf functions are displayed on a complex dial arranged on various levels, comprising thirteen separate parts in addition to the hour-markers. The most significant, set to become a brand signature feature, is located between 5 and 7 o’clock. It depicts a start to a round of golf by means of the curved head of a tee, positioned between two gold bezels set with a precious stone.
The owner of the watch will be able to choose a personalised version with stones in the colour of his or her handicap – a white diamond or yellow sapphire for men, a red jewel or blue sapphire for ladies. On either side of the start configuration, a striped motif symbolises the face of a club and the aperture resembles a bunker.
These symbols stand out beautifully against the central surface and the analog, representing a clear statement that the GMT watch belongs firmly within the golfing universe. The applied tee-shaped hour-markers as well as the tips of the blued steel open-worked hands are coated with white Superluminova. This dial, bearing the solid gold RJ logo, features an engine-turned metal centre in a choice of silvered, black or white mother-of-pearl versions.
The case housing the Golf Master Time is a distinctive token of both the model and the brand. It is clearly built to last, with its thirteen precious metal elements assembled without any visible screws. It is immediately recognisable thanks to the striped inserts, like on golf clubs, adorning each of its lugs. It comes in pink or white gold with a combination of polished and satin-brushed surfaces.
Versions set with brilliant-cut or trapeze-cut diamonds round off the range. The crown features a golf-ball type dimpled motif. The sapphire crystals have been given a multilayer anti-reflective treatment on both sides, and the one on the case-back carries a central gold medallion engraved with the letters RJ.
The case construction meets superlative quality demands. Its modular nature means that individual parts may be modified or replaced as necessary, such as following an accidental impact, either by restoring them to their original state or by giving them a different finish. To ensure maximum precision and impeccably quality finishing, the casing ring is an integral part of the gold case-middle.
The mississipiensis alligator leather strap, cut from large square scales, is hand-sewn and comes in a choice of colours: brown, green, black or white. Fashioned from solid gold matching the colour of the case, the double folding clasp with safety push-piece shaped like a golf club ensures a perfect fit and peerless comfort during all sports activities.
