BLANCPAIN WOMEN Ultraplate “Lotus”
In 2006, the Manufacture in Le Brassus unveiled a whole new collection of mechanical watches dedicated to contemporary women. This new range inspired by femininity was introduced through three separate watch lines.
The three first models in the “Lotus” line presented at Baselworld 2006 had a definite impact on their intended audience. Iconoclastic, contemporary and feminine to the tips of their hands, these timepieces revealed an undeniably avant-garde spirit, of which the new BLANCPAIN WOMEN Ultraplate “Lotus” is the latest and most graceful expression. 220 of the purest diamonds set fire to a black or white dial adorned with an exquisite sunray guilloché motif.
Large original and exclusive slender Arabic numerals enhance the daring face of this ultra-feminine mechanical jewellery-watch. Testifying to the extreme care lavished on details, the numerals in the date window pick up the same design. Two rows of diamonds on the traditional double stepped bezel illuminate the 34mm-diameter white or red gold case and make a subtle foil for the elegant satin strap fitted with a comfortable and refined folding clasp.
The remarkable Blancpain Calibre 1150 marks the gentle cadence of time in this “Lotus” jewellery model. This mechanical self-winding movement drives the central hour, minute and seconds hands, as well as the date appearing through a window at 6 o’clock. Visible through the sapphire crystal case-back, the 188 parts composing this calibre feature meticulous decorative finishing including Côtes de Genève, stippling, bevelling, polishing and engraving.
As indeed on all Blancpain movements, these operations are entirely performed by hand in accordance with the finest traditions of horological excellence. The distinctive character of this timepiece earns it a place all its own among women’s watches, vividly demonstrating that a strong personality and character can make a perfect match with prestige and femininity.
