Seiko Watch Corporation has released the Grand Seiko “Calibre 9F 15th Anniversary Limited Edition” to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Calibre 9F movement family. Limited to 300 pieces, the Grand Seiko SBGT027 watch houses the high-performance 9F83 quartz caliber.

Introduced in 1993, Calibre 9F has the following advantages over an ordinary quartz movement:

• Twin pulse control motor with about twice the normal torque so that you can turn a long and thick needle with good visibility.
• Ultra-high-speed daily calendar that switches instantly (in 1/2000 seconds) after midnight so that you can check the date and day of the week at any time.
• Backlash auto-adjustment mechanism that realizes accurate and beautiful movement of the second hand by greatly reducing the instruction error and tremor of the second hand by installing a hairspring that regulates the play of the gear.
• Super Shield Cabin Structure that maintains high performance for a long period of time by preventing dust from entering the movement and deterioration of lubricating oil.

The specially designed quartz movement (Calibre 9F83) of this model offers time accuracy to an annual difference of ± 5 seconds. The white dial of the Grand Seiko SBGT027 watch spotlights 15 striped patterns to express the 15-year history of the 9F quartz movement.

The star mark at 6 o’clock symbolizes the high accuracy of ± 5 seconds per year. In addition to the centrally placed hour, minute and seconds hands, the dial also hosts a day and date window at 3 o’clock. This model has a 37mm diameter case in stainless steel.

The stainless steel case-back is decorated with an 18K yellow gold “lion’s coat of arms”, and the letters “Caliber 9F 15th Anniversary Since 1993” and a serial number certifying the limited number are engraved around it.
