Seiko presents a new Kinetic Direct Drive version of its Prospex Marinemaster Scuba Diver watch series. Water resistant to 200m, this model is available in two references: SBDD001 and SBDD003. The movement driving this new diving watch is the Kinetic Direct Drive Caliber 5D22.
Developed by Seiko, Kinetic is a quartz movement driven by the electrical energy produced from the rotation a rotary weight, which moves with natural arm movements. Caliber 5D22 is an evolution of this technology. The Kinetic Direct Drive movement installed in this model can also generate electricity by hand winding, enabling the user to rapidly generate the power when the watch is stopped or the amount of charge is insufficient.
This timepiece has a bright titanium case measuring 46.5mm in diameter. It comes with sapphire crystal glass, unidirectional rotating diving bezel with black bezel-insert, screw lock type crown and screw-in titanium case-back. The asymmetrical knurling on the bezel edge makes it easy to operate even while wearing gloves.
The matte finished black dial with applied, thick three-dimensional indexes provides high visibility. In addition, the Lumibright applied hands, dial indices and bezel markers ensures excellent readability in the dark. The watch has a date window at 4.30H and a power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock.
