Seiko Crown Chronograph 40th Anniversary Limited Edition, Reference SBCG003

This limited edition watch (reference SBCG003) was released in 2004 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic Seiko Crown Chronograph.

Tokyo hosted the Olympic Games in 1964 and Seiko was the official timekeeper of this mega sporting event. In that year, the Japanese watchmaker launched Crown Chronograph, the first domestically produced chronograph. In 2004, to mark the 40th anniversary, the brand created a limited edition watch with an extremely complex Kinetic movement.

The Seiko SBCG003 Kinetic Chronograph fuses the design aspects of the 1964 model with the advanced Kinetic timekeeping technology. It has a 45mm diameter stainless steel case with sharp and elegant shape evoking the design of the historic Crown Chronograph. It also features a scratch-proof ceramic bezel and dual curved sapphire crystal glass.

On the reverse side, it has an exhibition case-back design that offers the view of the Seiko 9T82 Kinetic chronograph movement. Affixed to the main case-body with six screws, the stainless steel case-back features the limited edition number of the watch. The centre of the glass back spotlights the text “40th Anniversary Chronograph”.

The commemorative model comes with a silver radiant dial like the historic watch. It has a multilayer layout featuring four sub-dials and a date display window. The font is a reproduction of the one used in the original model. The number of jewels (38 JEWELS), which is not normally shown in Kinetic, is displayed on the dial.

The Seiko Crown Chronograph 40th Anniversary watch is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet.
