Introduced in 2005, this Marinemaster Professional 600m diving watch (reference SBDB001) from the Seiko Prospex series houses the state-of-the-art Spring Drive movement. This timepiece features a bright titanium case and bracelet.
Bright titanium is a lightweight and durable material, and it also has a beautiful luster. Bringing together the best technological capabilities of SEIKO and excellent design, the watch offers practicability, sturdiness and dial visibility.
Secured with a solid screw case-back, Seiko Prospex SBDB001 has a 46mm diameter case with waterproofness of 600m. Placed at the 4 o’clock position, the screw-locking crown features the S mark engraved on it. The unique L-shaped gasket and special packing material shut out helium mixed gas, and provides exceptional air-tightness and water-tightness.
The Seiko Prospex Marinemaster Professional 600m Spring Drive features a detachable rotating bezel structure. By removing two screws and fixing parts of the case, the bezel can be detached without damaging the case or bezel, for the maintenance purposes. The bezel also features an asymmetrical knurled shape, enhancing the grip and rotational operability.
The watch houses Cal 5R66, a Spring Drive movement with automatic winding and additional time-zone/24H function. It offers a power reserve of 72 hours. The dial hosts hour, minute, seconds and additional time zones hands on the centre, date display at 3 o’clock and power reserve indicator near 8H and 9H markers.
About Spring Drive Timekeeping Technology
Developed by Seiko Epson Corporation, the proprietary Spring Drive mechanism offers a chronometric precision equal to that of a quartz watch: a monthly difference of ±15 seconds (equivalent to a daily difference of ±1 second). In 1999, SEIKO commercialized this mechanism for the first time in the world.
The first Seiko Spring Drive models to be unveiled were references SBWA001 and SBWA002. These timepieces featured 7R68 caliber, a hand-wound Spring Drive movement.
In 2004, the first Seiko Automatic Spring Drive watches were launched with 5R series calibers. The Cal 5R66 is a new evolution of the Spring Drive self-winding movement range.
